Golf and
Ireland have their legacy; we're not reinventing the wheel
with a tour of the Emerald Isle's best links, even if it
includes Royal Portrush and two tours of Royal County Down,
where the sea, the mist, the turf, and the Mourne Mountains
offer a setting for golf beyond the wildest dreams of most.
But we can offer you a "sixth gear" to your travel, the type
of next-level exhilaration that only whiskey tasting and
helicopters can bring to a once in a lifetime golf trip.
When you land in Belfast, we'll chopper you across the North
Atlantic and Mull of Kintyre to open this escape on
Machrihanish Golf Club, a remote outpost of the game's
roots, where the pressure is placed on your very first swing
to carry a large swath of the North Atlantic. Wake the next
morning to be one of the first to test Machrihanish Dunes
(opening Spring 2009), latest project of David McLay Kidd,
the native Scot who introduced the golf world to Oregon.
We'll boat back to Ireland, maybe in a sailor's gale, to the
Bushmill Inn for two days of whiskey, Portstewart, Royal
Portrush, and some warm fuzzies (in whatever order you
please), before making the trek around the top of the
emerald on the A2 to finish at Royal County Down, with a
final night's stay at the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa.
Trust us. After the last four days, 'spa' will have a
